There’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking help from natural resources. As we grow in our knowledge, we all do it. Even if it’s as common as eating, drinking, and clothing ourselves from the cold – these are all natural things that we use to help us until our mind is fully renewed.

I believe that too often we consult with natural resources around us to see whether something is possible in our life or not. If the doctor can fix it, then we feel comfortable that we can be well. If we feel smart enough, then we feel confident the task can get done. If people are favorable to us, then we are at peace that we can prosper.

It’s true that joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Jesus is always happy and He can produce that through you as well (Galatians 5:22). But the Spirit isn’t just happy. He’s happy for a reason! Notice that even when Jesus rejoiced, in the joy of the Spirit, He assigned a reason for it:

I’m sure you’ve heard it at church before, “When you mess up or stray from God, the Lord is always there to welcome you back with open arms, like a loving Father — just like in the parable of The Prodigal Son.” The problem is, The Prodigal Son is not written about a believer. This notion that because you don’t know everything, or because your mind is not fully renewed yet, that you can’t see miracles in your life is simply not true. Otherwise, most, if not all of us, would not be able to see miracles in our life, because we don’t see Jesus perfectly.

It seems like many, if not most Christians, believe that God controls everything in the universe. They feel that God can intervene in situations wherever and whenever He wants. The only way a person can believe this (and I mean the only way), is to first believe that God can communicate good things to mankind apart from Jesus — simply because He feels like it.
