Home Sweet Home – Part 3

Length: 2 minutes

What we believe affects our emotions. If we believe that our home is far off from us, as if it’s something we will attain years from now, it gives us a sort of bittersweet ache, and a longing in our hearts for something better. That is the last thing that a born-again believer, carrying Heaven inside of them, should feel.

Even when people are away from their physical homes, surrounded by things that are unfamiliar, they get a sense of discomfort or home sickness. And what do you think believers are feeling today, when preachers falsely tell them that home is something they will access sometime after they die? It makes them homesick. The Bible says as much. It says that when you put off somebody’s hope, it makes the heart sick.

Proverbs 13:12 (NKJV) Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

What irony there is in a church, longing for a time when they can experience Heaven, and be home, and all the while carrying the very thing they’re longing for right inside of them. But there’s nothing left to wait for. There’s no reason to feel homesick. Home is here, and Jesus’ flesh was broken for us, to give us access into Heaven (also called the Holiest, according to Hebrews 9:24)

Hebrews 10:19 (NKJV) Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest [or Heaven] by the blood of Jesus…

All the sweetness of home is inside of you right now, and ready to be accessed if you are willing to believe what you have. If you believe correctly like that, instead of feeling a longing and an ache for something in the future, you’ll feel a peace, a contentment, and a belonging; knowing that Home Sweet Home has never been closer.
