On a very practical level, even though we are worthy to access the voice of God, we need time to be able to hear Him. That certainly doesn’t go without saying. Some people may try to squeeze in a few minutes here and there, to spend private time with the Lord, and then get discouraged when they feel they aren’t hearing God. Too many people leave ministry — like healing, casting out demons, service, encouragement — to the “big shots” in the church. Christians often compare what they have seen in their life so far, with what those ministers are seeing in their life, so they disqualify themselves from ministering in certain capacities. This may not be a conscious decision, but when you look at someone else ministering by the Spirit and are only thinking about your flesh, you slip into disqualifying yourself.
