As long as there is someone on this earth believing, as long as there’s someone in the situation full of the life of God, that person that “died,” is in fact not dead, but merely sleeping.

We’ve already been over many scriptural proofs, but for anyone who believes scripture, this is the simplest and most profound proof that physical resurrection is a part of our inheritance.

Because of what Jesus provided, raising the dead back to life is nothing extraordinary or unusual. You don’t need a “special anointing” to see it in your life. You just need to have a clear idea of what you have in Christ.

Paul was someone who suffered quite a lot for the gospel’s sake, but even he acknowledged that Jesus had fixed this, and the death and hurt he suffered was based on his own lack of knowledge (as is always the case – 2 Cor. 4:12, 2 Tim. 1:10, Rom. 8:6). But regarding the relief of his suffering and pain, he said these famous words:

Paul said that he “finished his race.” So, doesn’t that imply that there comes a time when we’re supposed to die because our life is finished? Well, it would imply that, if the “race” he was speaking of was referring to his life, but that’s not the way the Bible defines the word “race” at all.

When someone dies, people say that it was God’s “time” for them to die. Not only is that untrue, but God is trying to do quite the opposite. He’s trying to cause people to live (Romans 8:11). And you would think that would be less controversial than it is.

When someone dies, the church tells us that the Lord “called them home” or, “It was their time.” If, when people die, it is simply because the Lord called them home at their appointed time, then why did Jesus routinely raise people back up from the dead in His earthly ministry? For that matter, why has God been raising people from the dead since the Old Testament?

Just about every Christian believes in immortality and in the resurrection of the dead, but many, if not most, see these things as something that is reserved for Jesus’ second coming, or for heaven someday. Of course, they believe that God has the ability to raise the dead now, but in their mind, this is more the exception to the rule than anything. What they don’t realize is, Martha thought this exact same way, but Jesus corrected her.

This certainly doesn’t need to happen to begin with, but if a believer gets a diagnosis of something permanent, chronic, incurable, or hard to fix, they may suddenly feel like, “This isn’t really happening to me.” They may feel, “This is so foreign, it can’t even be real.” While the world would tell you you’re in denial, I am here to tell you that, as far as the permanent nature of it, you’re right. It’s not really happening to you. Let me explain.

When the church teaches about people living forever or being raised from the dead, it is most commonly taught as something that will occur when Jesus comes back. I am here to tell you that immortality and the resurrection of the dead is something we have received through Jesus’ first coming on the cross, not through His second coming.

The resurrection of the dead is not something that is unusual or uncommon to born-again believers, who have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead living inside of them. If it seems unusual, it is because we are just out of the loop! We simply don’t realize the very power living inside of us. Power to raise the dead is a normal, everyday thing for us.

Most Christians will admit that physical death was a curse placed on Adam for his sin (Romans 8:10). And yet, most Christians also believe that everyone has “their time” to die, and our loving Father “calls us all home” at one point or another. If you didn’t know, those are just fancy ways of referring to death. So I’m confused. Is death a curse placed on lawbreakers or is it some beautiful finale that God appoints, even to His children?

Ephesians 1:19-20 (NKJV) and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead...

Do you believe that Jesus is the only way for us to receive from a holy God? If you do, you will love this article. Of course, we don’t deserve God’s grace by our works, but Jesus paid the price so that we could receive it! That’s Christianity 101. Many people think that they already believe those statements, and perhaps you do, but you’d be surprised at how many Christians contradict this.

In our last part, we introduced the concept that Peter spoke of, regarding submission without fear. This world submits for fear of consequences or for the control that they feel someone has over their life. But we submit to authority voluntarily, for the Lord’s sake, without any fear or terror.

In Christ, all believers have the same thing, through the same cross. None of us differ in the grace that we have received from God, because we received it through the same payment. And while that is true, while we are growing, we don’t all play the same role, not in this world, in a family, or a ministry. God has us perform different jobs so that we are not all doing the same thing (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). And in these various structures that God has set forth, there will be authority figures for us to submit to, but there’s a right way to do that.

When you’ve gone through some addiction, habit, sickness, or pain for a long time, many people, and unfortunately many believers as well, feel sort of trapped or stuck, wondering if this thing will ever go away. I’ve got good news for you. As a believer you are a slave to righteousness and God’s life-giving power. That’s the only thing you’re stuck in. Let’s unpack that.

It’s true that we should assemble with like-minded believers consistently. It’s true that we should avoid the company of those who scoff at the gospel or aren’t willing to hear. It’s also true that we need to make time to speak with people that may disagree with us now, but are willing to hear. Those are all true statements, but there are some other factors to consider as well…

Recently we’ve been talking about two groups of people. There are those who believe and are growing in the same truth that you are. God says to never forsake assembling with these people. On the other hand, there are people who are not willing to hear the truth. After being given ample opportunity, the Bible says to shake the dust off your feet and move on. But what about everyone else in between?

If you have been a Christian for any length of time, you will know how the Bible heavily emphasizes the need to meditate on God’s word day and night. But did you know that God puts the people you hang out with on equal footing with meditating on His word? In fact, He sees them as the same endeavor.

As a believer, a top priority for you (aside from spending time with the Lord personally) should be to get together with other believers, who seek the truth.

When you hear that you have been given a gift of righteousness through Jesus, that doesn’t just mean that you are “right in Gods eyes.” It’s not as if you’re really flawed, but God just sees you as righteous. You’ve actually been created in righteousness and holiness, with real godly characteristics!

It is quite common to hear about “the renewal of the mind” at Reform Church. It is necessary that our physical mind be renewed to realize all that we have in Jesus! But you actually already have a fully renewed mind!

People without Jesus need constant “escapes from reality.” They try to drown out the reality of their world with things like drugs, alcohol, parties, TV, video games, vacations, and even sleep. They are happiest when they are not remembering the real world, but for a believer, it’s all the contrary. We are happiest when our eyes are opened to our world.

Since Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, God had been teaching the Jewish people the gospel. One of the manifestations of their belief in the gospel was God’s promise that they would inherit the land of Canaan. God had been speaking this promise to them for generations, and when the Jews were enslaved by Pharaoh, God raised up Moses and Aaron to reiterate this promise to the Jews once again, and to deliver them from their slavery to Pharaoh, in a trajectory toward Canaan, the land of promise.

We’ve been learning about what it means to have an everlasting, unchanging nature inside of us, that can sustain our bodies in this youth forever! We’ve been learning about how we’ve been redeemed from corruption, because we have been cleansed of sin! Now, let’s see this being used by someone in the Bible.

The Bible describes the Lord as being both young and ancient. So, which one is it? Well, it’s both, if we have some clues about what the word “youth” really means.

As believers, the Bible says that we are so much like Jesus now, on the inside of us, that when we look at Jesus it’s like looking in a mirror. In fact, Jesus is referred to as our Mirror.
