If I were to go into any church and ask, “How many of you believe that at the cross, Jesus’ payment was once for all time?” I would get rousing amens. And if I said, “How many of you believe that the cross is our only access to the grace of God?” I would get applause in agreement. Many people think that they already believe those statements, and perhaps you do, but you’d be surprised at how many Christians contradict this.

When a believer goes through trouble, your average Christian is going to tell them to keep believing the Lord for the victory! “The battle is the Lord’s! Keep believing until you overcome your giant!” But I think they’re reading an old newspaper, because victory happened a long time ago and there’s nothing left to overcome.
