How To See Your Situation The Way God Sees It

How do we communicate our thoughts? We do so through words (whether verbal, written, or otherwise). We communicate our thoughts and perspectives through our words. The Lord is no different. If you want to adopt His thoughts, to see His overwhelmingly positive perspective of your situation, you need to receive His words.

Matthew 12:34 (KJV) …for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Your words are just a manifestation of what’s in your mind. When something is abundantly in your mind, it comes out, being represented in your words. The Lord is no different. The Lord communicates what’s on His mind with His words.

In the next verse, you can see that the Holy Spirit teaches people His wisdom with His words.

1 Corinthians 2:12-13 (NKJV) …that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but [with words] which the Holy Spirit teaches…

Knowing that words are how we communicate thoughts, if you want to think the thoughts of God then you need to receive His words.

God’s Word Carries His Perspective

Think about it this way: God sees your situation. He has a perspective on it. He’s not optimistic or pessimistic. He’s realistic. And yet, He has such a positive, Jesus-centered perspective on you, because He knows your situation is not a big deal. He knows His Son already finished it and gave you everything! God has the most accurate, truthful view of your situation. And… the vehicle that carries that perspective and places it into your mind is His word. The perspective is in His mind, but it comes out of His mind, by His word, and goes into your mind, if you’ll hear it!

God’s word is the delivery vehicle that carries His perspective… and He’s got a package for you.

When God’s word enters your mind that’s just the beginning. To adopt the perspective God delivered to you, you need to start thinking about that word (Psalms 1:1-2). The perspective is delivered to your mind, but now it’s time to think about that word constantly. God’s word (carrying His perspective) has already entered your mind, but it’s only when you think on it that this perspective becomes your own. The word that came from His mind begins to permeate your mind the more you think about it. As you meditate day and night on His words, you’ll start seeing your situation the same way He does.

This is what is meant when the Bible says, “faith comes by hearing.” Faith is God’s perspective. So, Romans 10:17 is saying “God’s perspective comes to us by hearing his word.”

Romans 10:17 (NKJV) So then faith [God’s perspective] comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

If words are the vehicle to deliver God’s perspective, then you need to start chewing on His words to get every bit of perspective God wants you to get. When you think on God’s word, you are thinking on His perspective. When God speaks to you, don’t take it lightly. Remember it, write it down, hold fast to it, don’t let it go, because His word is the truth, above everyone else’s word. It’s accurate because He sees the spiritual realm and the physical realm. He takes ALL things into account.

God’s word can paint such a vivid perspective in your mind that you start seeing things in your circumstance that other people don’t. You start seeing life, prosperity, and happiness all over the place, even before it becomes apparent on the outside. It’s as if you’re looking straight through the physical circumstance into the deeper truth of the circumstance. The word of God is the only thing that can take you there!

Adopting A Perspective From What You See

Sometimes, we get so caught up in what we see and feel that we can start adopting our perspective from these things. That’s where Jesus’ disciples were. They were in a storm on the sea and allowed what they saw to shape their perspective. But look at Jesus’ perspective of their problem:

Mark 4:37-40 (NKJV) And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He [Jesus] was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

That’s how little Jesus thinks of the evil in this world. He slept right through the storm. God wants you to have that same perspective, because you have His same power living in you. All the fretting and fearing that we do is always uncalled for. It’s because we’re adopting a false perspective from what we see instead of a Jesus-centered one from the words of God. Sometimes we just need to shake our head a few times and get to meditating on what God’s saying to us. The word of God will carry His perspective to your mind, and with some time, you’ll be sleeping on the pillow next to Jesus. You’ll start seeing your problem defeated and easily resolved. You’ll start realizing the answer is right under your skin. You’ll even start perceiving that the Holy Spirit is manifesting through you as you believe. God’s word is able to give you that spiritual perception.

Enough with the bailing water. There’s a reason why Jesus is sleeping on the pillow and you’re not. It’s because He sees something about your situation that you’re not. I say, let’s ask Him what He thinks. Let’s adopt His perspective by His word, because your situation, in Christ, is so much better than you think.
