As believers, the Bible says that we are so much like Jesus now, on the inside of us, that when we look at Jesus it’s like looking in a mirror. In fact, Jesus is referred to as our Mirror.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV) But we all… beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory…
This verse says that when we look at Jesus in His glorified state (the glory of the Lord), we can look at Him like we’re looking in a mirror. That means that we can relate to everything we see in the glorified Jesus.
It’s not that God wants us to relate to how Jesus walked this earth. Jesus put Himself in a limited state, humbling Himself, and limiting the power of God working through Him. That is why He told us that as new covenant believers; we would be able to do greater works than He did in His earthly ministry (John 14:12). Jesus even grew tired in His time on earth. Jesus grew hungry in His time on earth. God wants us to relate to Jesus in His glory now, not as He walked the earth. God wants us to relate to the version of Jesus that does not grow tired or weary, just like the Father (Isaiah 40:28-31).
Whatever He has, is what you have now! Whoever He is, is who you are now! We are joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). And if we have everything that Jesus has, then it’s no wonder God asks us to use Him as our Mirror! When we look at Him, we’re seeing who we are. When we look at Him, we’re seeing what we have! And, when we see what He doesn’t have, we also see what we don’t have (namely, the things of this world). Because as He currently is, so are we in this world! We’re not as He was, but as He is. And not that we’re going to be as He is in the future, but we are currently as Jesus is, even while we are in this present world.
1 John 4:17 (NKJV) …we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
This is a foundational truth for every believer. It is how we define ourselves. It is how we understand who we are now. We define ourselves by who Jesus is. This is not wishful thinking. This is not a process that you are slowly undergoing, to become more like Jesus. On the contrary, as He is, so are you (presently) in this world. It’s just inside of you now and can be released to your form (your outside) as you recognize it!
So, if all these things are true (and they are), if through the cross we really have what Jesus has and can claim what Jesus claims, then let’s see what the Bible says about the condition of Jesus. Because if we can define Jesus, then we have just defined who we are as well! Read this about Jesus and begin to apply it to yourself.
Hebrews 1:11-12 (NKJV) …they will perish, but You remain; and they will all grow old like a garment… and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not fail.”
That passage is speaking about Jesus, and Jesus is your Mirror. So guess what? As you read that passage… you just took a look in the Mirror! What you just read is descriptive of Jesus, and therefore is descriptive of you as well. “They will perish, but you remain; and they will all grow old like a garment… and they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will not fail.” That’s talking about what you have, because it’s talking about what Jesus has. We are joint heirs with Jesus. And while many Christians would agree with that phrase, many Christians would be offended at applying traits of Jesus to themselves. But if that’s the case, what’s the point in being a joint heir with Him, if you can’t apply what He has to yourself? If so, then you’re not a joint heir.
It’s not too good to be true. He has made you just like Himself and that’s why Jesus is your only accurate Mirror. God doesn’t care what you see in your body. Your body catches up to who you are, if you first begin to understand who you are. If you will just lift your eyes a little, and look beyond the physical realm to see your True Image, then these things would flow from within you and manifest into your body as well.
2 Corinthians 3:18 says that your outside would be transformed. That’s talking about your body and your mind changing forms. But when does it say that your body and your mind get transformed? It says that your outside is only transformed when you start using Jesus as your Mirror! Read that verse again above. It doesn’t say that when you look at Jesus, you’ll be transformed. It says when you start looking at Him as your Mirror, you’ll be transformed. That’s talking about looking at Jesus and relating with it!
It’s not enough to just say you know Jesus. Do you relate with Jesus? It’s not enough to just say that you believe in Him. Do you relate with what you see in Him? Those are two completely different things. You don’t get transformed by simply saying you believe in Jesus. You don’t get transformed by simply believing that Jesus has something. You get transformed when you use Him as your Mirror and recognize that whatever He has, is what you have! It’s a gift because of the cross, not of your works, but it’s yours just the same.
Whatever you relate to in Jesus, is what you will inevitably see manifest in your body and mind. So isn’t it nice that you’re reading an article about being young like Jesus right now? Where do you think you end up, when you expose yourself to teaching like this? I’ll let you answer that.
You’re not relating to Him to make it real. You’re relating to Him because it is real. It’s in you now, and it will simply manifest and transform your body and mind as well. What you see in Jesus is true of you now. And we need to start getting used to it. Because most believers simply are not.
Thank you, Father, for making us just like your Son. When we look at Him, we’re seeing ourselves. Praise God for giving us more than we could ever ask for!

If this blessed you, share this with someone else!
