In the book of Numbers, the people of Israel were bitten by serpents. So, God commanded Moses to make a brass serpent on a pole. And when the people looked upon that serpent on a pole, they lived, being healed from their serpent bite. In John chapter 3, Jesus says that the serpent on that pole represented Him on the cross. But why is Jesus represented as a serpent? Well, there is much deeper symbolism here, but let’s put it plainly:(more…)
