Sometimes believers feel concerned about their effectiveness in sharing the gospel, because there’s a lot they don’t know yet. But you don’t need to know everything, by far, to effectively minister a gospel that can save someone and cause them to receive from God!
In short, just share what you know. Maybe you know the Lord 5% and someone else knows Him 6%. While we all want to grow in our knowledge of Jesus, what we don’t know does not delegitimize the word of God we have received up to this point. The things that you know about Jesus not only saved you, but can save somebody else and cause somebody else to see miracles in their life.
This is not about underestimating your ability. This is about not underestimating the word of God. You have the word of God in your mind. Do not ever underestimate that. Every single believer has understanding of the word of God and can therefore effectively share that with somebody else.
You may think, “Oh, but there’s so much I don’t know.” But if not knowing a lot about the Lord would delegitimize us as ministers, then we are all together illegitimate. Everyone that I know still lacks understanding of Jesus. The men of God that wrote the Bible, which we quote as being the word of God, lacked knowledge of Jesus. Lacking knowledge of Jesus does not make you ineffectual as a minister. We’re not sharing our ignorance with people; we’re sharing what we know! So just share that pure knowledge of Jesus that you understand for yourself! That’s all that anyone should be doing.
2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV) And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak…
Just one seed of the word of God can save a person, raise a person from the dead, and heal the sick. You’ve got seed in your mind that can positively change somebody’s life forever. What you don’t know yet (and I say “yet”) about Jesus does not delegitimize everything the Lord has shown you. That’s not just to make you feel better. God forbid we would ever tell the Lord that, “Everything you’ve shown me up until now is illegitimate and ineffective, simply because I don’t know you fully yet.” That is simply not true. You have legitimate revelation from the Lord because He has revealed Himself to you, as a believer. So, when you’re speaking to somebody else, just share what you know. If there’s something you don’t understand, here’s the trick: “Just say I don’t understand that yet, but here’s what I know…” Simple as that.
If you’re a believer, God has shown you some excellent, useful, effective, and powerful things about Himself. Do not delegitimize the word of God because of something you don’t know yet. Don’t ever diminish the word of God in your mind like that. The word of God is precious. You’ve got the full measure of it living inside of you already. And what you have found out so far is able to save the world and give them an inheritance from the Lord. Don’t you diminish the word of God. Don’t you dare ever diminish that word within you.
Acts 20:32 (KJV) And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
