All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereofis as the flower of the field: 7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. 8 The grasswithereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

  • The beautiful appearance of the rich of this world, is said to be as the flowers and  the grass.

  • Lilies are compared with glory. Jesus compares lilies with Solomon’s glory.

Matthew 6:28-29 (KJV) And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

  • Youth is referred to as the “flower of the age” of a human being.

1 Samuel 2:32-33 (NKJV) And you will see an enemy in My dwelling place, despite all the good which God does for Israel. And there shall not be an old man in your house forever. 33 But any of your men whom I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart. And all the descendants of your house shall die in the flower of their age.
