I have heard many people that have either given up on their faith or backed off of seeking the Lord. Many, if not most of them, say that it’s because of betrayal or hypocrisy that they see in the church. But we are missing something if we are leaving God because of something one of His kids did. How would you feel if someone left you because of something someone else did?

In our last part, we introduced the concept that Peter spoke of, regarding submission without fear. This world submits for fear of consequences or for the control that they feel someone has over their life. But we submit to authority voluntarily, for the Lord’s sake, without any fear or terror.

In Christ, all believers have the same thing, through the same cross. None of us differ in the grace that we have received from God, because we received it through the same payment. And while that is true, while we are growing, we don’t all play the same role, not in this world, in a family, or a ministry. God has us perform different jobs so that we are not all doing the same thing (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). And in these various structures that God has set forth, there will be authority figures for us to submit to, but there’s a right way to do that.

Christians tend to be very family oriented, which is a good thing, because we have a responsibility to our family first. But Christians also tend to think that taking joy from your physical family or friends is something of a virtue. This is simply not correct.
