When someone dies, people say that it was God’s “time” for them to die. Not only is that untrue, but God is trying to do quite the opposite. He’s trying to cause people to live (Romans 8:11). And you would think that would be less controversial than it is.

When someone dies, the church tells us that the Lord “called them home” or, “It was their time.” If, when people die, it is simply because the Lord called them home at their appointed time, then why did Jesus routinely raise people back up from the dead in His earthly ministry? For that matter, why has God been raising people from the dead since the Old Testament?

This certainly doesn’t need to happen to begin with, but if a believer gets a diagnosis of something permanent, chronic, incurable, or hard to fix, they may suddenly feel like, “This isn’t really happening to me.” They may feel, “This is so foreign, it can’t even be real.” While the world would tell you you’re in denial, I am here to tell you that, as far as the permanent nature of it, you’re right.
