Jesus took all the evil of this world on Himself so that we could have all the good of Heaven today. For those that have Jesus, it’s always good news… even when you don’t realize it!

Hebrews 12:11 (NKJV) Now no chastening [training or correction] seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Some people try to use this verse to say that the truth is a hard pill to swallow, or that sometimes, the truth hurts. They use this to try and say that sometimes the gospel is uncomfortable. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, under no circumstances are those things ever true. 

Notice that God never said that correction wasn’t a joyful thing. He never said that it wasn’t good news. He simply said that the correction doesn’t “seem“ joyous at the time. This word “seems“ literally means “in your opinion.“ So basically, He is saying that when you’re being corrected it doesn’t seem to be joyous in your opinion, but He never said that it wasn’t joyous — just that it wasn’t joyous in your opinion. And in that case, your opinion is simply incorrect.

The truth is, everything the Lord has to tell you is always wonderful news about what Jesus did for you! How could it be bad if Jesus took all that was bad at the cross? When we are being corrected, sometimes all we can see is that we were thinking wrong. And therefore, correction may not be joyous in our opinion, but truthfully, anything God would be correcting you on, is actually wonderful news for you. God only wants to correct your mind so that you can fully realize how good you have it in Jesus, and then experience it. 

So let God correct your thinking. He does it because He loves you. He does it because He wants you to know His good news. Even if it’s not joyous in your opinion at the time, everything that the Lord wants to show you is, in fact, joyous for you!
