If someone cuts their hand, gets the flu, or has a stomachache, even the world doesn’t worry about it too much. But why? Isn’t it uncomfortable? Well, yes, but they know that it usually doesn’t last long, and they will be feeling better soon.
There’s something about the temporary nature of something that alleviates a lot of concern. When something is permanent it causes people concern. When something is temporary, it alleviates a whole lot (if not all) of that concern.
But when something is permanent, chronic, or incurable, do you know what the Biblical word for that is? Bondage. Those are all just fancy, deceptive words for bondage. Bondage just means that you’re stuck. And there is literally no such thing for you anymore.
When the Bible says that we’ve been released from bondage, it means that NO problem is permanent for you anymore. All of it can easily subside. All of it is something you can grow out of. Even if you experience a problem as a believer, you are certainly not bound to it. Not at all. Jesus died for us to release us from all bondage to this world (Gal. 1:4, Isa. 61:1).
So as a believer, if you experience any problems manifestly, don’t worry… It’s just temporary at best (like a cut on your hand) if you will just continue in the faith. Do you know what the biblical term is, when you’re not stuck in a problem, but can easily renew your mind out of it? It’s called freedom. And that’s what you have, child of God. Freedom — from everything.
Hebrews 2:14-15 (NKJV) Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself [Jesus] likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release [or free] those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
